sidebar windows explorer

Sidebar + Windows explorer

1- is there a way to "auto-hide" the sidebar (c.f. autohide the taskbar): moving the mouse to the right(or left!) side of the screen makes the sidebar popping-up. I once had a similar sidebar made by someone that acted that way. 2-how can I have the explorer window to have two parts? At the left the tree of drives and maps, at the right the contents of the map (in previous windows-explorer : knob "MAPS") FB

Not sure about the first question.
To view folders with the Tree, or map as you refer to it, simply open any folder and near the bottom on the left hand side you will see the word "folders" and a small carat. Click on that and the tree is shown.

The view options of my explorer are different than what you describe. In "help" I can see what you mean, but in my present view there is no "folders" carat. I started fooling around and changing view, changed in folder options classic to new and back and looked in this forum: I see that there are more people struggling with the layout and properties of the explorer windows (withhout navigation pane).
I've experienced years with computers but this strikes all! I cannot find my way in my own pc! Grrrr!

Not in safe mode, I wish I could send you a "print screen of the explorer window: left below is just the number of files. In help and support, looking for "navigation pane" the 4th item shows me what I want: But: Now I've just managed to get what I want; activating in "folder options" the item "always showe icons" shows me the word "folders" left below and then I have my navigation pane. Thanks for your time and help! Bye FB

There is no auto-hide feature for the sidebar.
