Windows explorer keeps crashing

Desktop sidebar removal
Is there a way I can have it so the folders sidebar tab that opens in Windows Explorer when clicked, is there a way I can make that folders sidebar open automatically when the My Computer icon is clicked?? If not maybe when I open Windows Explorer it starts off on the My Computer tab rather then My Documents?
